I think most sources suggest that you can reuse it as long as you replace it every few months (and maintain scrupulous hygiene - no double dipping the spoon!). I tend to do this anyway, as we go through a few weeks every so often without yoghurt, after which I start again with a new bought pot. I might try evaporated milk, I imagine it is creamier?Aurorahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11526065510467428775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9021858500099153473.post-29385990730961847492013-04-13T20:45:33.791+01:002013-04-13T20:45:33.791+01:00I have made yoghurt in a flask for over 20 years. ...I have made yoghurt in a flask for over 20 years. A glass lined one is easier to clean than stainless steel.
My method
1 large tin of evaporated milk diluted to nearly 1 litre of liquid. Heat to blood temperature ( I never use a thermometer only my finger to test for the heat) Whisk in 1 small pot of live yoghurt
Pour into flask and leave for 24 hours - longer for a thicker set.
I never reuse the yoghurt after a friend was ill with recurrent stomach problems for over a year. They never renewed their culture and it has become infected which caused this problem.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13043645352302036774noreply@blogger.com
